1. Introduction From Chairman

The Chairman opened the meeting at 19:00.

2. Minutes Of Last Meeting

The minutes of the meeting on 2/12/02 were accepted as a true record

3. Matters arising

MB was kindly asked if he could bring in his old goalkeepers kit for redistribution amongst the ladies goalkeepers. <ACTION MB>

4. Team Reports

Mens 1st XI - GO - The firsts have recently lost a few players but not as many as anticipated. James Kellog, Dan Gerrish and Andrew Morran have been added to the team. The team is doing fine in the league with some tricky fixtures to come in the next few weeks. GO anticipates a mid table finish.

Mens 2nd XI - PE is disappointed that his team is not pushing for promotion this season. The team has suffered from a lack of goals and too many draws. Some tough matches are expected in the next few weeks with a slightly weakened team.

Mens 4th XI - SS told the members present that the 4th XI had won 4 games since the last committee meeting scoring 14 goals in the process. Unfortunately the team's main strikers have been called up to the thirds.

Ladies 1st XI - SP - No change. The team are still top of the league. Important matches are coming up and the team would appreciate some supporters to cheer them on.

Mixed XI - YPN explained that the team had been knocked out of the Mixed Cup Plate at the second round stage, losing 3-1.

5. Finance

TG, on behalf of FVG, announced to the members that the finances are currently in good shape.

6. Umpiring

TP told the committee that YPN had completed her three qualifying games and now needed to take the assessment match to become qualified. Natalie Retalick has passed the exam and now requires to complete three qualifying games.

7. Coaching

Senior Coaching

GO & SP - Coaching on 7/1 had been cancelled due to frozen pitch.

GO & MB to push KWD to install the training lights at the earliest opportunity. A cargo container has been installed at the site, which will be modified to become a dry changing room. <ACTION MB & GO>

Junior Coaching

PO - Junior training had started despite the frozen pitch and poor weather conditions.

GO informed PO that a new trainee teacher at KWD, Andrew Mormon, would be available to assist with Junior training on Sunday mornings.

The Avon U16 is to be held at KWD on 23rd March. PO to enter a team. <ACTION PO>

The Club is provisionally pencilled in to host a HEL coaching course on 5th, 8th and 15th June. YPN, SS, AR and MC are all interested in attending the course. SP and GW will ask members at training if there are any other members that would like to do the course. <ACTION GW & SP>

Sally Divall still has not assisted at any training sessions and therefore TG will call Penny Bromley to ask her to have a word with Sally. If Sally does not commit to helping then she will have to pay the club for the coaching course. <ACTION TG>

8. Social Events

MHo told the committee that the Christmas Party had raised £100. All agreed that MHo and Kelly Nolan had done a fantastic job and that everyone had had a great time.

The next event will be a quiz night, hosted by TG, and will be on the 15th March. MHo will distribute flyers closer to the date. <ACTION MHo>

The end of season barbecue and Club Day would be on the 5th April this year. MHo will not be present and therefore YPN and GW have volunteered to stand in.

9. Development

MB explained that it was proving extremely difficult to identify a professional coaching manual. GO and DB think that Brian Thomas has some information and will contact him directly. <ACTION DB & GO>

MB told the committee that it was the intention of the development committee to explore the possibility of holding a barn dance/pig roast event in early summer. In the run up to the event it is planned to hold a large raffle with anticipated profits of £4500. The development committee will be meeting on 18th January to discuss these plans.

10. Any Other Business

GO - On 22nd March no pitches are available at KWD. 30th March junior training will have to be brought forward to 09.30 until 11.00 to make way for the KES Bath Schools Tournament.

SP - The balls that went missing at the University have been returned. SP asked for permission to purchase another dozen balls. SP to liaise with AH. <ACTION SP>

YPN asked the Chairman about the possibility of having some indoor hockey sessions on Sunday afternoons. GO can arrange for the indoor hall to be used for free if a mini-tournament is organised which includes a KWD team. It was decided that this would be a good first step to check on the popularity and feasibility of such sessions. <ACTION GO & YPN>

12. Next Meeting

Due to the quiet period after Christmas the Chairman decided that there is no requirement to hold a meeting in February unless something important arises. Next meeting would be 3rd March. The meeting closed at 19.45.
